Easter is here!

Brian and I promised Megan she could get a new Build-a-bear for Easter.  She has been planning for weeks what she was going to get.  She decided she wanted the special Easter Bunny they were advertising.

Megan and I have a devotional every morning before we start school.  Today was about God answering BIG prayers.  So what is a BIG prayer to a 6 year old?  "God please help me get the bunny I want" (from Build-a-bear.)  I told her sometimes when God answers our prayers it is not the answer we want.  I used the example of the bunny she wanted.  I told her if she prays for the "bunny" and they don't have anymore then maybe God would answer her prayers in another way and she could pick an even better bunny.  So she prayed that this morning without knowing I was going to take her today to get her new "member of the family".  When we got to the workshop she looked into the bin and saw the Bunny she wanted.  She started jumping up and down and screamed "God did it!  He answered my prayers!"

My heart leapt with joy that she had really gotten the lesson.  God can answer our prayers in a BIG way....even if they are only about bunnies!  Happy Easter Everyone!

10 dimes

I love Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church http://www.stevenfurtick.com/ .  He has a very practical way of preaching the Word of God.  I was on his website today and found this video post of his oldest son talking about tithing.  We have been teaching Megan about tithing and saving her money.  I have had a hard time explaining it to her.  She just doesn't understand why she can't spend it all.

If you are having a hard time understanding the concept of tithing or want an idea on how to explain it to your kids this video says it all.

Eclipse is coming!!!!

I can't believe it is almost here! June 30 Eclipse will open, not to mention the fact that New Moon is coming out on DVD this month. Megan always refers to the books and the movies as "mom's" things. Yes I know it is supposed to be a "teenage" thing, but ladies you have to give it a chance. You don't know what you are missing! Hope to see you all at the movies!!

Winter

I have not posted anything in months. We have been working hard on her schooling at home. I have been able to find an awesome homeschool support group. We have already been making new friends who share in the same struggles and triumphs as we do. It is nice to talk to others about what we are doing and not get the strange "are you out of your mind" looks.

Gracie wanted to make something out of yarn one day. I remembered seeing a yarn doll when I was a kid. We looked it up on-line and found the instructions. It was so easy to make. We made a boy (Hansel) and a girl (Gretel). I of course did almost all of the work, but she had to hold it while I braided the arms and legs. When we were almost finished with the second doll she looked at me and said "Whew..that was hard work. Why do I have to do all of the work!" If she only knew

New Adventure

My husband and I have always wanted to homeschool our children. Even when we were dating we would dream of what it would be like to homeschool them. Well that day has finally arrived. Due to an unfortunate situation at our daughter's school, we are now finishing the Kindergarten year at home. To say I am nervous is an understatement. But I know God will give me the ability and courage to begin this new adventure in our lives....GULP!!
